Grappa di Barolo - Barolo Cask Finish 0.7L

Grappa di Barolo from the Bocchino house — and then aged in a Barolo cask: This is not a simple pomace brandy, but a distillate that bridges the gap from grape back to wine. Bocchino is one of the most traditional Grappa distilleries in Piedmont and has been working for generations with Nebbiolo pomace from the cru sites of Barolo.

In the glass, you can see what the Barolo cask finish achieves: dried plum, candied orange, and white flowers form the framework, joined by cinnamon and hazelnut — aromas one expects more in a matured red wine than in a Grappa. The texture is velvety, the finish long and spicy, without the harshness that often clings to young pomace.

Neat at room temperature or slightly warmed in a snifter — this is how the aromas are best showcased. Classic after a risotto or a tagliata, or as a quiet end to a long evening with a piece of dark chocolate.

The Distillery

Bocchino

Bocchino has stood for Piedmontese grappa tradition for generations. The distillery from Canelli in the heart of Monferrato processes only fresh pomace from Piedmont – Moscato, Barbera, Nebbiolo – and distills it in small copper stills. The result: characterful grappas with a clear origin, aromatic depth, and a velvety finish. Pure after a meal, slightly tempered at about 14–16 °C.
