Gigino 80th Anniversary

Barbanera's Gigino is an uncomplicated Tuscan red wine, made for everyday use – not for the cellar, but for the table.

Barbanera is a traditional Tuscan winery with roots stretching back to the 19th century. The family is known for approachable, characterful wines from the heart of central Italy, where Sangiovese has become the dominant grape variety, cultivated on clay-rich soils and under a Mediterranean climate. The Gigino embodies the character of this region: down-to-earth, direct, with clear fruit.

In the glass, it displays the typical Sangiovese aromas of sour cherry and plum, accompanied by a hint of herbs and a slightly spicy finish. The tannins are soft and well-integrated, the acidity lively without being sharp – a red wine that opens up without much preparation and is ready to drink immediately.

Best served at 16–18 °C . Pairs well with pasta al ragù, pizza Margherita, grilled vegetables, or a simple tomato bruschetta. A reliable companion for evenings when the wine shouldn't be the main focus, but still needs to be just right.
