Gewürztraminer Réserve Cuvée Christine AC Alsace - Vendanges Tardives

The Cuvée Christine is a luscious Gewürztraminer that brings together opulence and clarity. It comes from the 2022 vintage and bears the designation Vendanges Tardives, i.e., Spätlese in the Alsatian sense.

The grapes grow in the Grand Cru Kessler, one of the well-known sites of the Domaines Schlumberger in Alsace. They are harvested late. As a result, the wine gains concentration without losing its freshness.

In the glass, mango, papaya, passion fruit, and banana appear, along with candied citrus notes and blood orange. Floral hints, ginger, and fine spices lie over them. On the palate, the wine feels soft and dense, carried by freshness and a fine spice. The finish is long.

Serve it well chilled at 8 to 10 °C. It pairs well with strong blue cheese or ripe Munster, with foie gras, and with desserts with apricot or ginger. You can also enjoy it on its own in the glass after a meal.

The Domaine

Domaines Schlumberger

Domaines Schlumberger from Guebwiller in the southern Alsace has been family-owned since 1810 and is one of the most important wineries in France. Today, the seventh generation runs the house: Séverine and Thomas Schlumberger manage around 140 hectares of vineyards – the largest contiguous AOC winery in Alsace, 70 hectares of which are in four Grand Cru sites.

On steep slopes with a gradient of up to 50 percent, maintained with draft horses and over 50 kilometers of stone retaining walls, wines with great depth are created. Schlumberger presses only its own grapes and deliberately produces only half of what the law would allow.
