Friedrich Becker Grauburgunder 0.357l

Pinot Gris in a 0.357-liter bottle — ideal if you're planning a second wine to accompany your meal or don't want to finish half a bottle. In the glass, it displays the clear, precise style for which Friedrich Becker is known.

The winery is located in Schweigen at the southernmost tip of the Palatinate, right on the border with Alsace. Friedrich Becker and his son Fritz work with vineyards on both sides of the border — the soils alternate between limestone and shell limestone, which gives the white wines a distinct mineral character.

The Pinot Gris has aromas of stone fruit—pear, ripe apple—with nutty and slightly floral notes, along with a hint of yeast and a mineral undertone. On the palate, it is juicy and fresh, with lively but never harsh acidity. The finish is delicately smoky, lingering, and dry.

Serving temperature: 10–12 °C. Pairs well with pan-fried pike-perch with beurre blanc, tarte flambée with crème fraîche and bacon, or a mild goat cheese. It also makes a good accompaniment to Asian dishes with coconut milk.

Friedrich Becker

VDP Member Estate

Friedrich Becker is one of the quiet giants of the German wine scene – and has been for seven generations. The winery in the Palatinate, located directly on the French border, is entirely dedicated to Burgundy varieties : Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and their relatives are clearly at home here.

On 29 hectares, the Becker family doesn't follow trends, but rather works according to their convictions – with a consistency that can be tasted in the glass. Since 2000, the winery has been a member of the VDP , the Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates. A seal of quality that speaks for itself.
