Pinot Gris

A Pinot Gris that shows what the Southern Palatinate is capable of: substantial, dry, with the typical smoothness of the grape variety and at the same time enough freshness not to seem too heavy.

Friedrich Becker cultivates vineyards in Schweigen, right on the French border with Alsace, which are among the southernmost in the Palatinate. The winery is primarily known for its Pinot Noir, but the warm, loess-dominated location also showcases its strengths in Pinot Gris: full ripeness with preserved acidity.

In the glass, it displays aromas of quince and ripe apple, along with a delicate note of walnut and a slightly smoky undertone. The palate is broad and juicy, the acidity well-integrated, the finish lingering and subtly nutty. A Pinot Gris with substance – not a light summer wine, but a companion for the table.

Recommendation: Pairs well with roast veal, pasta with truffle cream sauce, creamy risottos, or a mature Munster. Serving temperature 10–12 °C. Ready to drink now, will keep easily until 2027.

Friedrich Becker

Friedrich Becker is one of the quiet giants of the German wine scene – and has been for seven generations. The winery in the Palatinate, located directly on the French border, is entirely dedicated to Burgundy varieties : Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and their relatives are clearly at home here.

On 29 hectares, the Becker family doesn't follow trends, but rather works according to their convictions – with a consistency that can be tasted in the glass. Since 2000, the winery has been a member of the VDP , the Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates. A seal of quality that speaks for itself.
