Elbe kilometer 454
Elbkilometer 454 is a white wine from Schloss Proschwitz – one of Saxony's most renowned wineries, situated directly on the Elbe River. The name refers to the precise river kilometer where the vines grow: a location that combines the continental climate of the Elbe Valley with long hours of sunshine and cool nights.
Schloss Proschwitz belongs to the Prince of Lippe family and is one of the pioneers of modern Saxon viticulture. Since the early 1990s, the vineyards have been systematically rebuilt – with a focus on mineral-driven, dry white wines that reflect the character of the sandstone and loess soils.
In the glass, the Elbkilometer 454 displays fresh citrus notes – lemon and grapefruit – complemented by a hint of white peach. The acidity is lively yet integrated, the finish dry and characterized by a light minerality. An uncomplicated, straightforward white wine with a clear profile.
Serving temperature: 8–10 °C. Pairs well with fish from the Elbe River – such as pike-perch or trout – with light poultry, or a summer salad with fresh goat cheese. Best enjoyed young.
