Weissburgunder Buntstück

A Pinot Blanc that takes the lightness of the Palatinate seriously: fresh, structured, with a real drinkability.

Dr. Wehrheim is one of the most reliable wineries in the southern Palatinate region, around Birkweiler. The winery has been working with varietals for decades and, in its estate vineyards such as the Buntstück, emphasizes clear fruit without any artificiality.

In the glass, the Pinot Blanc displays aromas of yellow apple, ripe pear, and a hint of white peach. The acidity is present but integrated—not sharp, but lively freshness with a mild, mineral finish that suggests sandy loess soil.

  • Dishes: Asparagus with hollandaise sauce, fried pike-perch, creamy pasta with herbs or young goat's cheese
  • Temperature: 10–12 °C
  • Drinking window: now until 2027

An uncomplicated everyday wine with character — good for the table during the week, but with enough substance for a summer evening with guests.

Dr. Wehrheim

The Dr. Wehrheim winery is located in Birkweiler in the Southern Palatinate and is a member of the Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates (VDP). It cultivates approximately 17 hectares of vineyards and places particular emphasis on sustainable and biodynamic viticulture. The winery's philosophy is to preserve natural resources and biodiversity, which is reflected in herbicide-free and humus-building vineyard management. The winery offers a wide variety of wines, primarily dry white wines such as Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, and Chardonnay. Red wines like Pinot Noir are also part of the portfolio. These wines originate from renowned vineyard sites such as Kastanienbusch, Mandelberg, and Kastanienbusch Köppel, which are known for their excellent climatic conditions and unique soils. Dr. Wehrheim's wines are characterized by their terroir-specific aromas, which reflect the influences of climate and soil. The winery follows an uncompromising quality philosophy, which is also reflected in the strict hand-harvesting and biodynamic farming practices.
