Dönnhoff Pinot Blanc dry

Weißburgunder from the Nahe — at Dönnhoff, this means: clear fruit, precise acidity, and an aging process that lets the grape variety speak without overloading it.

The Dönnhoff winery in Oberhausen an der Nahe has been one of the most reliable addresses for German white wine for decades. Helmut Dönnhoff and his son Cornelius work consistently site-oriented — the grapes for this Weißburgunder grow on volcanic weathered soil and loess loam on the slopes of the Middle Nahe. Four months of aging in large German oak barrels round off the wine without pushing wood aromas to the foreground.

In the glass, it shows ripe pear, a hint of white peach, and a subtle nutty depth. The body is medium-bodied, the acidity integrated, and the finish dry with a slightly creamy texture — typical for Weißburgunder that has had time on wood.

Serving recommendation: Served at 10–12 °C, it pairs well with veal schnitzel with herb butter, fried char, or a mature Brie. It also cuts a fine figure as a companion to Asian dishes with coconut milk.
