Domaine des Pierrelles Côte Rôtie AOP Paul Jaboulet Aîné
Côte Rôtie is one of the most demanding vineyard sites in the northern Rhône—narrow, steep terraces, extreme slopes, and Syrah behaves completely differently in this climate than in the flat south. Paul Jaboulet Aîné's Domaine des Pierrelles comes from precisely this environment.
Paul Jaboulet Aîné is one of the most traditional négociant houses in the Rhône, based in Tain-l'Hermitage since 1834. The Côte Rôtie is a benchmark vineyard for the estate: Syrah on weathered granite soils, with the typical influence of Viognier found in the northern Rhône, which lends the wine finesse and floral character.
In the glass, it displays a deep, dark ruby red. The nose opens with dried black berries, violets, and a hint of clove—accompanied by the olive note characteristic of Côte Rôtie and an undertone of dark chocolate. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied, with ripe, silky tannins and a good length on the finish.
