Crozes-Hermitage Domaine De Roure Red

Syrah from the northern Rhône Valley, as it should be: dark, spicy, with the characteristic peppery note of the appellation. The Crozes-Hermitage Domaine de Roure from Paul Jaboulet Aîné demonstrates what the prestigious neighboring appellation of Hermitage is capable of.

Paul Jaboulet Aîné has been rooted in the Rhône Valley since 1834—one of the oldest and most renowned houses in the region. Domaine de Roure is nestled in the Crozes-Hermitage hills surrounding the granite monolith of Hermitage Hill. Granite weathering soils and the continental climate of the northern Rhône Valley shape the style: robust, yet structured.

In the glass, a deep garnet red with violet reflections. On the nose, dark blackberry, black olive, and a distinct hint of black pepper—the hallmark of northern Syrah. These are complemented by sweet spice notes, graphite, and a touch of smoke. On the palate, medium to full-bodied, with present but polished tannins, lively acidity, and a long, spicy finish.

Serving suggestion: Ready to drink now with a little aeration; drinking window until 2026–2028. Serve at 16–17 °C. Pairs well with braised leg of lamb with rosemary, grilled ribeye steak, or a strong cheese such as Époisses.
