Côte Rôtie Les Pierrelles

Côte Rôtie is one of the great estates of the northern Rhône Valley — and Paul Jaboulet Aîné has been rooted there for almost two centuries. Les Pierrelles grows on the steep granite terraces at the northernmost tip of the appellation, where the Syrah displays its dark-fruited, spicy side.

In the glass, the wine shines ruby red. On the nose, it opens with blackberry and dried plum, along with violet, clove, and a hint of dark chocolate. On the palate, it is full-bodied with soft, ripe tannins—the finish is long, spicy, and velvety.

Serving suggestion: Now with herb-crusted lamb loin, braised duck, or mature raw milk cheese. Serving temperature: 16–18 °C. Those with a little patience can let it rest in the cellar for another two to three years—the fruit will then become even more concentrated and complex.
