Dernauer Riesling

Meyer-Näkel is primarily known for its Pinot Noir – the fact that the winery from Dernau also grows Riesling is a surprise. And it is worth it.

The Meyer-Näkel family has been cultivating steep slopes on the Ahr, one of Germany's northernmost red wine regions, since the 1980s. Volcanic slate and greywacke characterize the soils around Dernau – a foundation that gives the Riesling a distinct mineral line rarely found in milder locations.

In the glass, the 2023 Dernauer Riesling shows aromas of citrus zest, ripe mirabelle plum, and a hint of almond. The acidity is present but integrated – not an edgy vintage, but an accessible wine with drive. The finish is salty-mineral and lingers pleasantly.

Serving temperature: 10–12 °C.
Pairs well with grilled char, goat cheese with herbs, or a simple risotto with lemon and Parmesan.
