Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Corno

The Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Corno from Castello di Radda represents the best that the core zone of Chianti Classico has to offer: a single-vineyard selection from the heart of Tuscany, vinified according to the strict requirements of the Gran Selezione category — the highest quality level of the Denominazione.

Castello di Radda is located in the town of the same name, Radda in Chianti, one of the historic heartlands of the Zona Classica between Florence and Siena. The soils here are characterized by Galestro and Alberese — the typical mixture of calcareous shale and clay components that gives the Sangiovese its characteristic freshness and mineral depth. As a Gran Selezione, the wine must mature for at least 30 months, a large part of which in wood — which is clearly reflected in its structure and complexity.

In the glass, the Corno shows classic Sangiovese aromatics at a mature level: dark cherry, pomegranate, and a hint of dried rosemary, underpinned by cedar wood and fine tobacco from the wood aging. The tannins are present but silkily integrated, the acidity gives the wine length and drive, and the finish remains memorable with a slight iron note.

Pairs well with braised leg of lamb, Bistecca alla Fiorentina, or mature Pecorino Toscano. Serving temperature: 17–18 °C — decant one hour before serving if necessary.
