Château Clos Saint-Émilion Philippe

Saint-Émilion from the right bank of the Gironde: Merlot-dominated, with the velvety texture for which this appellation is known. Château Clos Saint-Émilion Philippe embodies the artisanal heritage of small Bordeaux estates — meticulous hand-harvesting, aging in oak barrels, and a focus on terroir rather than volume.

Limestone and clay characterize the soils around Saint-Émilion, giving the wines softer tannins than those from the gravelly vineyards of the Médoc. This is evident in the glass: blackcurrant and cassis take center stage, with hints of licorice and a touch of graphite underneath. The tannins are ripe and supple, the acidity well-integrated. The finish remains spicy and pleasantly long.

Best served at 16–18 °C . Decanting the wine 30 minutes before pouring significantly enhances its aromas. Pairs well with entrecôte with red wine sauce, leg of lamb with rosemary, or a mature Comté cheese.
