Château Certan de May AC Pomerol 0.75L
Pomerol is one of Bordeaux's smallest and most sought-after appellations — and Château Certan de May is one of the estates that have spoken for themselves here for generations. The vineyard lies in the heart of the plateau, right next to Vieux Château Certan and Pétrus, on soils of clayey gravel and blue clay, which give the Cabernet Franc a depth rarely found in this appellation.
Cabernet Franc forms the soul of this wine—a grape variety that expresses itself differently in Pomerol than in nearby Saint-Émilion: earthier, spicier, with an almost mineral tension. In the glass, aromas of blackberry and black plum emerge, underpinned by violets, graphite, and a hint of tobacco. The palate is dense, with firmly integrated tannins and a fresh acidity that gives the wine length and drive. The finish is long, with a spicy, slightly mineral aftertaste.
It is best served at 16–18 °C , after a short decanting period of at least one hour. It unfolds its full potential when paired with herb-crusted lamb loin, entrecôte, or a mature Époisses. The drinking window, depending on the vintage, is between 2025 and 2035.
