Cederberg Shiraz

Power with elegance: The Cederberg Shiraz from the Western Cape in South Africa focuses on juicy fruit, dark spice, and plenty of body. A red wine with presence that still doesn't feel heavy.

The Cederberg estate is located in the Cederberg Mountains in the Western Cape, a remote mountain region where the vines grow at higher altitudes. The Shiraz was aged for 15 months in barriques, 70% of which were new barrels. The wood aging gives the wine structure and the roasted aromas that you find later in the glass.

On the nose and palate, juicy fruit, chocolate, coffee, and spices come together. The wine is very full-bodied, the fruit remains in the foreground, and the finish lingers for a long time.

Serve it at 16–18 °C, decanting an hour beforehand if necessary. It pairs well with leg of lamb, braised beef, grilled steak, or strong, aged hard cheese, and is perfect for long evenings at the table with friends.
