Cave St. Pierre Alpes Fendant du Valais
Chasselas — known as Fendant in Valais — is the soul of Swiss white wine. This bottle from the canton of Valais shows why the grape variety has thrived there for generations: light body, lively acidity, unobtrusive yet present.
Cave St. Pierre vinifies in the classic Valais style—focused on freshness, without oak aging. Valais is the driest region in Switzerland, favored by the Föhn wind and the protective Alpine mountain ranges. The gneiss and slate soils give the Fendant its characteristic minerality.
In the glass, it displays a pale straw yellow. The nose offers pear juice, white peach, and a hint of lemon verbena. On the palate, it's crisp, with mild acidity and a slightly mineral, stony finish—dry, lean, and direct. Not a wine for pondering, but for pouring spontaneously.
