Catena Zapata Chardonnay Adrianna White Bones

Chardonnay from the Adrianna vineyard in Mendoza's high altitudes – and a small portion of botrytis that clearly distinguishes this wine from classic Burgundies.

Catena Zapata manages the Adrianna vineyard at an altitude of 1,500 meters in the Gualtallary zone of the Uco Valley. The lime- and fossil-rich subsoil – the namesake for the "White Bones" – provides the mineral basic structure that runs through the entire wine. Lot 1 is considered a particularly expressive parcel within the vineyard; Nicolás Catena Zapata has been working here for decades on the question of whether Argentina can produce Grand Cru quality.

In the nose, ripe apricot, white peach, and Williams pear, underpinned by blossom honey and hazelnut. The botrytis portion provides not sweetness, but aromatic depth and a light waxy note. On the palate, dense but without heaviness – the acidity keeps everything in motion. Long finish, with rock minerality and a hint of brioche from 12 to 16 months of barrique aging in French oak.

Serving temperature: 11–13 °C. Pairs well with lobster with butter sauce, sweetbreads, or mature mountain cheese.
