Catena Chardonnay

The Catena Chardonnay is the iconic Argentinian Chardonnay from Bodega Catena Zapata – the winery that Nicolás Catena Zapata transformed into a world-class producer in Mendoza, and which is now run by his daughter Laura Catena and head winemaker Alejandro Vigil. It is a blend of wines from four high-altitude vineyards between 950 and 1,450 meters above sea level at the foot of the Andes: El Cepillo, Agrelo, Villa Bastías, and the cooler Gualtallary – each vineyard contributes its own aromatic dimension, which only unfolds its full potential in the blend.

After cold sedimentation, the must ferments for 15–25 days at a maximum temperature of 17 °C, then matures for 10–12 months on the fine lees in French barriques – with bâtonnage, bottled unclarified and unfiltered. Only a portion undergoes malolactic fermentation, which maintains a balance of freshness and creaminess.

In the glass, a pale straw yellow with greenish reflections. The nose opens with citrus, peach, green apple, and delicate mineral notes, underpinned by a hint of brioche and spices. On the palate, elegant and balanced, with lively acidity, a creamy texture, and a long, fresh finish.

Served at 8–10 °C with 13.0–13.5% ABV, aging potential until 2034. A natural accompaniment to poultry, scallops, creamy pasta and aged cheese – precise, mineral and unmistakably Andean.

Catena Zapata

Catena Zapata represents a story deeply rooted in the Andes. Nicolás Catena Zapata was one of the first to bring Argentinian Malbec to the world stage – not with fanfare, but with conviction and patience. The vineyards are located in Mendoza, some at altitudes of over 1,500 meters. There, where the air is thin and the sun intense, grapes ripen slowly, developing a depth that you immediately perceive in the glass: dark berries, a hint of violet, velvety warmth – and always that elegant freshness that high-altitude vineyards bring. Today, his daughter Laura runs the winery with scientific ambition and genuine passion. She researches which ancient grape varieties and soils of Argentina still lie dormant – and bottles the results. You can taste it: wines with character, attitude, and a story worth telling.
