Carpano Antica Formula Vermouth 1L
The recipe dates back to 1786, when Antonio Benedetto Carpano established sweet vermouth in its modern form in Turin. Carpano Antica Formula is still produced today according to this original formula—a rarity among classic vermouths.
The base consists of Moscato wines from Piedmont and white wines from southern Italy, flavored with mountain herbs according to a historical recipe. In the glass, it displays a deep mahogany color; the bouquet reveals vanilla, saffron, and dried raisins. The palate is full-bodied, and the bitterness in the finish precisely balances the sweet and herbal contrast.
Uses: Neat over ice as an aperitif, in a Negroni, or as the base of a Manhattan—where lighter vermouths lose depth, Antica Formula maintains its structure. A splash in Barolo Chinato is also classic.
Carpano is no ordinary vermouth producer – it's a living legend from Turin. Since 1786, the name has stood for vermouth as it was originally conceived: aromatic, complex, and distinctive.
Carpano Antica Formula is still considered the granddaddy of all vermouths – its velvety-warm vanilla notes make it a truly unique experience. For those who prefer a bolder flavor, Punt e Mes is the perfect choice: one point of sweetness, half a point of bitterness – a signature ingredient in every Negroni. And the Botanic Bitter, with its ten carefully selected herbs, brings a whole new dimension to the glass.
Carpano stands for craftsmanship with history – and for drinks that you won't soon forget.
