Capaia Sauvignon Blanc

Sauvignon Blanc from the Western Cape — and one that shows what South Africa can do with this grape variety: less jam, more excitement.

Capaia is located in the Agter Paarl Valley north of Cape Town. The winery is known for its consistent commitment to biodiversity on the estate—the vineyards are nestled within fynbos vegetation, which naturally stabilizes the vineyards and allows the ecosystem to thrive. Capaia operates sustainably and is one of the estates in the Western Cape that takes terroir seriously rather than focusing on industrial mass production.

In the glass: pale straw yellow. On the nose, grapefruit zest, fresh gooseberry, and a light hint of passion fruit—typical of well-situated Sauvignon Blanc vineyards in the cooler Atlantic influence zone. On the palate, lively acidity, medium body, and a mineral, saline finish. No oak, no heavy sweetness—the wine remains clear and straightforward.
