Christine
Buitenverwachting is one of the oldest wineries in the Constantia Valley – a cool coastal region south of Cape Town, influenced by both the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. Christine is the estate's flagship wine: a Bordeaux blend that demonstrates what this relatively cool location can achieve with Cabernet Sauvignon-dominated assemblages.
In the glass, aromas of dark cherry and blackcurrant emerge, underpinned by tobacco, cedarwood, and a hint of chocolate. Aging in French oak barrels gives the wine structure without being overpowering – the tannins are present but fine-grained, and the fruit remains clear and vibrant. The finish is long, slightly spicy, with a pleasant freshness typical of Constantia.
