Boillot Henri Volnay Caillerets

Volnay is considered the most delicate voice of the Côte de Beaune, and the Caillerets from Henri Boillot shows why: a Pinot Noir that works with freshness, drive, and minerality instead of power.

Caillerets is classified as a Premier Cru and is one of the best-known sites of the Volnay appellation. The Domaine Henri Boillot stands for Burgundies that focus on precision and clear origin. In the 2018 vintage, this results in a red wine that places elegance above fullness.

On the nose, mineral notes combine with strawberry, cherry, and other red berries. On the palate, the wine appears lean and at the same time multi-layered; the freshness carries it to the finish, in which a fine salty note lingers. A wine where attentive drinking is worthwhile.

Serve it at 15 to 16 °C in a large Burgundy glass. It pairs well with duck breast with cherry jus, coq au vin, mushroom risotto, or a ripe Brie de Meaux.
