Bodegas Pintia Toro

Pintia is Vega Sicilia's answer to the Toro region — rougher, more massive than the parent estates in the Ribera del Duero, but with the same claim to craftsmanship and aging potential.

The winery is located in the Denominación de Origen Toro, about 240 kilometers northwest of Madrid. The old Castilla y León region is known for its extreme temperatures and ancient Tinta de Toro vines, a local variety of Tempranillo. Vega Sicilia invested in this terroir starting in 1997 — the result is a wine that combines the wild character of the region with the cellar philosophy of one of Spain's most famous wineries.

In the glass, deep ruby red with violet reflections. The nose opens with blackberry, plum, and black cherry, behind which are toasted cedar and a hint of tobacco from barrel aging. On the palate, Pintia appears dense and full-bodied, with present but well-integrated tannins and an invigorating acidity structure that carries the long, spicy finish. Parker awarded 94 points for the 2014 vintage, the Guía Peñin 93.

Temperature: 17–18 °C. Best with braised lamb, Ibérico pork roast, or spicy hard cheese like Manchego curado.

Vega Sicilia

Vega Sicilia – a winery that takes its time. On the banks of the Duero River in Castile, patience reigns supreme. And you can taste it. What began in the 19th century as one courageous man's experiment is now one of the world's most renowned wine legends. No shortcuts, no adapting to trends. Simply: trust, wait, harvest. The result: Único, Valbuena – powerful and grounded, with a surprising depth. Dark fruits, earth, a hint of wood, a long, lingering finish. Under the TEMPOS Vega Sicilia umbrella: Alión, Pintia, Macán, Oremus. All different. All guided by the same conviction – the best wine is yet to be made.
