Valbuena 5° Double Magnum 3.0L

Valbuena 5° from Vega Sicilia is one of the great red wines of Spain — and in the three-liter double magnum edition, it unfolds its potential with particular power and depth. Spontaneously fermented and aged for over five years between barrel and bottle, it is the result of an aging process that is unparalleled in the Ribera del Duero.

Vega Sicilia is one of the oldest and most renowned bodegas in the region — founded in 1864 in Castile, always known for extreme care in the vineyard and long aging times in the cellar. Valbuena 5° is the more accessible of the house's two flagship wines, but carries the same ambition: artisanal precision over decades. The Malbec from the Castilian high plateau brings dark fruit and structure, shaped by a harvest that defied frost and drought.

The glass shows a deep dark cherry red with a garnet rim. On the nose, ripe blackberries and dark cherries, underscored by tobacco, old wood, and a hint of sweet spices like cinnamon and clove. On the palate, the wine feels dense and complex, with well-integrated structure and a long, spicy finish.

Best served at 16–18 °C, decanted for at least an hour. It pairs well with herb-crusted rack of lamb, braised beef shoulder, or a strong Manchego. The double magnum edition is suitable for special occasions where a wine is meant to be the centerpiece.
