Vega Sicilia Alion Ribera del Duero

Alion is Vega Sicilia's answer to the modern Ribera del Duero — Burgundian in approach, Castilian in power. Ripe fruit, dense structure and a finish that lingers in the memory.

Vega Sicilia—one of Spain's most prestigious wineries—founded Alion in 1991 as an independent estate to explore the potential of the Ribera del Duero with a different stylistic approach: Tempranillo from old vines, aged exclusively in new oak, focusing on finesse rather than sheer opulence. Alion matures for approximately 14 months in barriques, demonstrating what the Duero plateau, at over 800 meters above sea level with cool nights, can achieve with Tempranillo.

Sensors
In the glass, a deep cherry red with ruby ​​reflections. The nose opens with blackberry, sour cherry, and plum, underpinned by cedarwood and a light tobacco note. On the palate, supple, fine-grained tannins—present, but never harsh. The acidity keeps the fruit taut, and the finish is long, warm, and slightly spicy.

Recommendation
Serving temperature 16–18 °C. Drinking window depending on the vintage until 2030+. Pairs well with
