Vega Sicilia Alion Ribera del Duero

Vega Sicilia — one of Spain's most renowned houses — founded Alion in 1991 as an independent winery to explore the possibilities of the Ribera del Duero with a different stylistic approach: Tempranillo from old vines, aged exclusively in new oak, with a focus on finesse rather than pure opulence. The Alion matures for about 14 months in barriques and thus shows what the high plateau along the Duero at over 800 meters above sea level with cool nights can extract from Tempranillo.

Sensory profile
In the glass, deep cherry red with ruby red reflections. The nose opens with blackberry, sour cherry, and plum, underlaid with cedar wood and a light tobacco note. On the palate, supple, fine-grained tannin — present, but never coarse. The acidity keeps the fruit taut, the finish is long, warm, and slightly spicy.

Recommendation
Drinking temperature 16–18 °C. Goes well with
