Baron Edmond de Rothschild Château Clarke

Baron Edmond de Rothschild Château Clarke is a classic red wine from Listrac-Médoc in the Bordeaux region of France. The estate belongs to the Edmond de Rothschild family, who have owned it since 1973 and have developed it into one of the most important "Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel" wines in the Médoc.

The wine is primarily made from Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, usually with a blend of approximately 60–70% Merlot and 30–40% Cabernet Sauvignon. The vines grow on calcareous and clay-rich soils, resulting in structured yet harmonious wines. After harvesting, the red wine matures in small oak barrels, typically for 16–18 months, developing a fine tannin structure and subtle oak notes.

In the glass, Château Clarke displays a deep cherry red color; the nose is fruity and spicy with notes of cherry, blackberry, blueberry, and subtle hints of spice and vanilla. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, smooth, and well-balanced, with juicy fruit, elegant tannins, and a long, polished finish.

It pairs perfectly with grilled or braised beef, lamb, or mature cheese and is best served at around 16°C. Thanks to its structure, it is also suitable for longer aging if you wish to enjoy the development of its aromas and the maturation of its tannins.
