Kaapzicht was first mentioned in 1712 as "Friesland" and came into the possession of the Steytler family in 1946. The name was chosen because of the magnificent views of Cape Town and Table Mountain from the vineyard slopes. Kaapzicht Estate is a typical family business where all family members work together: A few years ago, Danie Steytler, a passionate, hardworking, and creative winemaker, followed in his father Daan's footsteps. His mother, Yngvild, is responsible for the worldwide export markets. The wines grown and bottled on the estate have been offered under the Kaapzicht label since 1984.

Kaapzicht Estate lies on the slopes of Stellenbosch — the name says it all: from the vineyards, the view stretches directly to Cape Town and Table Mountain.
