Kaapzicht Estate Kaleidoscope

Kaleidoscope from Kaapzicht Estate shows how powerful and at the same time accessible a Shiraz from Stellenbosch can be. The dry red wine brings the warmth of the South African vineyard into the glass without appearing clumsy.

Kaapzicht is located at the foot of the Bottelary Hills just outside Stellenbosch, one of the oldest and most renowned wine regions in South Africa. The Steytler family has been farming the vineyards for several generations and has made a name for itself with powerful, terroir-driven red wines. The weathered granite soils and the cooling winds from False Bay ensure grapes with ripeness and, at the same time, lively freshness.

In the glass, the Shiraz shows dark berry fruit such as blackberry and plum, accompanied by spicy notes of black pepper and a hint of graphite. On the palate, it is juicy and dense, with ripe, well-integrated tannins and a long-lasting, spicy finish.

Best served at 16 to 18 °C, ideally with grilled rack of lamb, hearty braised roast, or spicy Braai meat. It also pairs well with mature hard cheese and is suitable for social evenings as well as for everyday dining.
