Herdade do Esporao
Herdade do Esporão —
Nonconformism from the Alentejo
Herdade do Esporão lies in the heart of the Alentejo region, nestled within Portugal's expansive Montado ecosystem—a landscape of cork oaks, red soil, and Mediterranean light that provides the winery with its distinctive foundation. Nearly 700 hectares of vineyards cultivate around 40 grape varieties, including classic Alentejo varieties such as Aragonez and Trincadeira alongside international varieties. This diversity is not accidental, but rather by design.
The estate's philosophy has always been one of movement: constant nonconformity, a willingness to change, and a pronounced sense of creativity characterize each vintage. This is evident in experimental cuvées as well as in the more approachable lines—from fresh white wines with Antão Vaz to profound red wines that capture the warmth of the Alentejo without becoming heavy.
In addition to wine , Esporão produces olive oils from four of its own varieties, as well as products from the estate's orchards and kitchen gardens. Anyone wanting to experience the breadth of the Portuguese Alentejo region on their plate will find one of the most dedicated destinations in the country here.
