The Pugibet family has been cultivating wine in the Languedoc since 1890 – at Domaine La Colombette near Béziers, where the southern light shapes the vines and François Pugibet now runs the family business in its fifth generation. What is produced here is not a wine made according to a formula: classics like Syrah and Grenache stand alongside unusual varieties such as Cabernet Blanc, which is hardly cultivated in the Languedoc.
The core of François Pugibet's work is the consistent development of fungus-resistant Piwi grape varieties. These varieties require no copper or sulfur treatment – a true step towards biodynamic viticulture that isn't based on certifications, but begins in the vineyard. Less intervention, healthier soils, clearer fruit in the glass.
The wines from Béziers are fresh and direct: lively acidity, clear aromas, no excessive oak or extraction. They are just as suitable for an evening on the terrace as they are for Mediterranean cuisine – grilled vegetables, goat cheese, lamb with garrigue herbs.
