Cotarella Family
Famiglia Cotarella –
Falesco wines from the heart of Central Italy
The Cotarella family has stood for artisanal winemaking between Umbria and Lazio for generations. Their Falesco winery was established by brothers Renzo and Riccardo Cotarella – two names renowned in the Italian wine world for precise cellar techniques and a profound understanding of terroir. The vineyards around Lake Corbara and the hills north of Rome provide the raw materials: volcanic soils, a continental climate, and long growing seasons.
In the cellar, Falesco combines traditional fermentation with the targeted use of modern technology – without overpowering the character of the grape varieties. Sangiovese and Merlot lend depth and structure to the red blends, while Vermentino and Est! Est!! Est!!! di Montefiascone anchor the white wines with fresh fruit and a mineral note. These wines are not showpieces, but rather substantial companions to the table.
Anyone wanting to get to know the wine culture of central Italy beyond Tuscany will find a reliable entry point at Falesco – from accessible everyday wines to mature Riserva bottlings that deserve cellar time.
