Domaine Martin Luneau is located in Gorges , one of the most distinctive vineyard sites in the Muscadet region of the Loire. Christophe and Thierry Martin Luneau cultivate their vineyards in the direct family tradition – their own harvest, their own winemaking, no middlemen. The Atlantic climate shapes everything here: cool summers, wet winters, soils of weathered gneiss and amphibolite, which give the Melon grape its characteristic vibrancy.
The focus is on the Muscadets sur Lie: left on the fine lees after fermentation, they develop a salty minerality and a creamy texture not found in simpler bottlings. These are complemented by Pétillants naturels, rosé wines, and reds made from Cabernet Franc or Merlot – a range that demonstrates the breadth of potential in the Loire Valley when given the time to develop.
Anyone who has previously dismissed Muscadet as a light aperitif wine should try the cuvées from Gorges: paired with oysters, seafood or a mature goat cheese from the Touraine region, they unfold a surprising depth.
