Domaine d'Angerville –
Pinot Noir from the heart of Volnay
Domaine d'Angerville is one of the defining names of the Côte de Beaune – and has been for almost a century. The winery is located in the village of Volnay, one of Burgundy's most stylistic appellations, known for Pinot Noir with fine texture and aromatic precision. The d'Angerville family has been cultivating their plots since the 1920s, including some of the village's most significant Premier Cru sites: Champans, Clos des Ducs, and Taillepieds.
It was Marquis Jacques d'Angerville who, in the 1920s, was one of the first in Burgundy to consistently focus on estate bottling – at a time when négociants dominated the market. This independence remains part of the house's identity to this day. Today, Guillaume d'Angerville leads the winery with the same philosophy: organic vineyard management, gentle vinification, and long aging in the cellar.
In the glass, the wines reveal what defines Volnay: red berry fruit, floral notes, a silky structure, and a long, mineral finish. Anyone who wants to not just drink Burgundy, but understand it, will find a reliable starting point here.
