Angerville Meursault Santenots

A white Premier Cru from Angerville – that's a rarity. Domaine Marquis d'Angerville is deeply rooted in Volnay and primarily known for its Pinot Noirs. The fact that they produce a white wine at all in the Meursault 1er Cru Santenots vineyard is due to its unique location: the approximately 0.5-hectare plot lies in the southernmost tip of Meursault, directly on the border with Volnay, on calcareous and clay-rich soils with a high marl content.

These soils decisively shape the character of the wine. The Santenots are considered one of Meursault's most powerful Premiers Crus—less creamy and buttery than a classic Meursault, but more structured and minerally pronounced. In the glass, it reveals ripe yellow pear, citrus peel, and hazelnut, underpinned by subtle toasty aromas from barrel aging. On the palate, it is dense and silky, with a firm acidity that gives the wine definition. The finish is long, saline, and marked by a distinct minerality.

Drinking window: from 2026, with potential until at least 2034. Serving temperature 12–14 °C. Pairs well with lobster with butter sauce, cod on leek vegetables or mature Comté cheese.
