three quintas, one image of Óbidos
Since 1926, the Companhia Agrícola do Sanguinhal has been cultivating its vineyards around Óbidos, one of the quiet pearls of the Portuguese wine landscape. The region lies in the heart of the Lisboa zone, where the Atlantic breeze moderates temperatures and gives the wines a natural freshness that is not found in warmer parts of the country.
The special thing about Sanguinhal is the division into three: Quinta do Sanguinhal, Quinta das Cerejeiras, and Quinta de São Francisco represent three independent characters – different soils, exposures, and vine stocks that come together in the cellar to form a coherent overall picture. Old vine rows, sustainable cultivation over generations, and a craft that does not hide behind certificates, but speaks in the glass.
The DOC wines from Óbidos are still hardly known in German-speaking countries – which makes them all the more interesting for curious wine lovers. Fresh, lively, with real depth: a style that pairs with seafood, grilled fish, or a summer evening on the terrace.
