Château du Tertre – an old estate in Margaux. 52 hectares of vineyards surround the château, in the vicinity of renowned estates such as Cantenac-Brown and Giscours. Owned by Eric Albada Jelgersma since 1997, he has meticulously modernized the vineyards and cellars, restoring the estate's original character. The vines grow on the highest point in Margaux – protected from late frosts, benefiting from gravelly soils and nearby streams that ensure perfect water management. Château du Tertre sits at the highest point of the Margaux appellation – an advantage the vines noticeably benefit from: late frosts bypass the lower-lying vineyards, the gravelly soils drain quickly, and nearby streams ensure a balanced water supply. The 52 contiguous hectares surrounding the château, in the immediate vicinity of Cantenac-Brown and Giscours, are a location unparalleled in the Médoc.

Since 1997, the estate has belonged to the Dutch entrepreneur Eric Albada Jelgersma, who also manages Château Giscours. He has consistently invested in the vineyard and cellar without altering the historical character of the property. The aim was a return to the original personality of a Fifth Growth, which at its best combines elegance and structure.

These wines showcase what makes Margaux special – fine tannins, a fragrant bouquet of cassis and violets, and a long finish. Classically paired with rack of lamb or aged Comté cheese, but also a compelling reason to cellar them patiently.
