Eichinger Winery Kamptal Grüner Veltliner Wechselberg

Eichinger Winery Kamptal Grüner Veltliner Wechselberg
A Grüner Veltliner that hits the nail on the head for the Kamptal: spicy, cool, mineral — and surprisingly complex for a classic entry into the Eichinger range.
Birgit Eichinger is one of the most reliable addresses in the Kamptal. Her sites around Strass im Straßertale benefit from the continental climate with warm summer days and cool nights — particularly pronounced in the high altitude of the Wechselberg, where temperature differences sharpen the aromatics and keep the acidity lively.
In the glass, the Wechselberg shows the typical GrüVe signature of the region: ripe pome fruit (pear, mild apple), plus the characteristic peppery-minty coolness that is inherent to good Kamptal Veltliners. A slightly smoky undertone and fine minerality give the wine depth. The finish is fresh, clean, and pleasantly long — well-balanced between fruit and spice.
- Temperature: 10–12 °C

Birgit Eichinger is one of the most influential voices in the Kamptal region – and for good reason. Her family winery in the heart of this exemplary Austrian wine region stands for a clear philosophy: as little as necessary, as consciously as possible.
What does that mean in the glass? Grüner Veltliner and Riesling from vineyards like Heiligenstein or Gaisberg that don't just explain their origin – they make it tangible. Precise, refined, with a depth that allows you to rediscover them time and again.
