Eichinger Winery Kamptal Grüner Veltliner Wechselberg

Eichinger Winery Kamptal Grüner Veltliner Wechselberg
A Grüner Veltliner that perfectly captures the essence of the Kamptal region: spicy, cool, mineral — and surprisingly complex for a classic entry into the Eichinger range.
Birgit Eichinger is one of the most reliable wineries in the Kamptal region. Her vineyards around Strass im Straßertale benefit from the continental climate with warm summer days and cool nights – particularly pronounced at the higher altitude of the Wechselberg, where the temperature differences sharpen the aromas and keep the acidity vibrant.
In the glass, the Wechselberg displays the typical Grüner Veltliner style of the region: ripe stone fruit (pear, mild apple), along with the characteristic peppery-minty coolness typical of good Kamptal Grüner Veltliners. A slightly smoky undertone and fine minerality give the wine depth. The finish is fresh, clean, and pleasantly long—well-balanced between fruit and spice.
- Temperature: 10–12 °C
- Drinking window: now until 2027
- Dishes: Wiener Schnitzel, pike-perch with caper butter, asparagus with hollandaise sauce or strong mountain cheese
Birgit Eichinger is one of the most influential voices in the Kamptal region – and for good reason. Her family winery in the heart of this exemplary Austrian wine region stands for a clear philosophy: as little as necessary, as consciously as possible.
What does that mean in the glass? Grüner Veltliner and Riesling from vineyards like Heiligenstein or Gaisberg that don't just explain their origin – they make it tangible. Precise, refined, with a depth that allows you to rediscover them time and again.
