Tesch Riesling Karthäuser dry

From a well-protected, southwest-facing vineyard on weathered red sandstone, the early-ripening 2017 Karthäuser Riesling Trocken is remarkably clear and fresh on the deep and intense, complex and well-concentrated, yet precise and spicy bouquet with herbal, floral, and lemon aromas and subtle flinty notes. Full-bodied and rounded, yet also pure, fresh, and mineral on the palate. This is a complex and quite powerful dry Riesling with a long and structured, powerful and persistent finish, also exhibiting fine but firm tannins and good acidity. An impressive, terroir-driven, and age-appropriate Riesling that needs pork, not just fish, as a pairing partner. Tasted twice in July and August 2019. Robert M. Parker: 93 points for the 2022 vintage. James Suckling: 95 points for the 2022 vintage.
