Sperss Langhe Nebbiolo DOC 0.75L

The Sperss is Gaja's answer to the classic Barolo terroir: a Langhe Nebbiolo that combines the power of the grape variety with the house's unmistakable style. Angelo Gaja has been one of the defining figures of Piedmont for decades — with the Sperss, he brings Nebbiolo into a more accessible, but by no means simpler, form.

In the glass, the typical ruby red with a slightly orange rim appears. The nose opens with citrus and cedar wood, followed by juniper, ripe cherry, and fine spice notes. On the palate, the Nebbiolo brings its characteristic tannin structure — firm, but not angular — and a lively acidity that gives the wine contour and length. The finish is spicy and persistent.

On the table, it cuts a fine figure next to brasato al Barolo, leg of lamb with rosemary, or a ripe Parmigiano Reggiano. Serving temperature: 16–18 °C — and feel free to leave it in the decanter for a while so that the aromas can fully unfold.
