Pinot Noir "Blue Slate" QbA

Pinot Noir "Blue Slate" QbA
Pinot Noir from the Ahr region – that means: slate minerality as a foundation, Pinot fruit with real impact. The “Blauschiefer” from Meyer-Näkel demonstrates exactly that, without any detours.
The Meyer-Näkel winery from Dernau is one of the most influential names in the Ahr region. Since the 1980s, Werner Meyer-Näkel has established Pinot Noir as a serious red wine grape in this northern wine-growing region – today, his daughters Dörte and Meike continue to run the winery. Their "Blauschiefer" (Blue Slate) is their entry into the world of Ahr vineyards: rooted in the slate soil, approachable in style.
In the glass, a medium ruby red with a light rim. On the nose, ripe raspberry, blackcurrant, and a subtly meaty undertone – along with the characteristic slate minerality of the Ahr region, which lends the wine a fiery depth. On the palate, medium-bodied and lively, with fresh acidity and a spiciness that clearly overlays the fruit. The tannins arrive late but linger long – the finish is surprisingly present for a wine of this category.
Serving suggestion: Serve at 16–17 °C. Pairs well with duck breast with cherries, grilled lamb chops, or a strong goat cheese. Ready to drink now, but will keep for another 3–5 years without any problems.
