Sela DOCa Rioja 0.75L
Sela is the most approachable red wine from Bodegas Roda — fruity, direct and without the severity of long barrel aging.
Bodegas Roda has been one of the leading wineries of the Rioja Alta since the 1990s. While the great Roda cuvées are designed for decades of aging potential, the Sela showcases the other side of the winery: grapes from 15- to 30-year-old bush vines, sustainably cultivated, with Grenache Noir at its heart. The Rioja Alta imparts a freshness to this grape variety that is often lacking in warmer climates.
In the glass, the Sela displays ripe red cherries, pomegranate, and a hint of lavender—typical of Grenache from higher altitudes. The body is medium-bodied, the tannins soft and integrated, and the acidity lively without being sharp. The finish is short and fruity, encouraging another sip.
Serving suggestion: 16–17 °C , ideally immediately after opening without a long decanting time. Pairs well with herb-crusted lamb chops, roasted peppers, or a flavorful Manchego cheese. An uncomplicated everyday wine with a clear sense of origin.
Bodegas RODA is no ordinary winery. In the late 1980s, the Rotllant Daurella family came to Rioja with the clear intention of creating something lasting. The result is one of the most exciting wineries in Spain.
High above Haro's railway station district, wines are produced that bring out the best in old Tempranillo vines: SELA as an approachable entry point, RODA for deep red fruit, RODA I for dark power and freshness – and CIRSION for truly great moments. A winery that knows its roots and yet always looks to the future.
