Schlossberg Pinot Noir GG Rudolf Fürst

The Schlossberg is no ordinary location — it is one of the most historically important Pinot Noir terroirs in Franconia, and Rudolf Fürst gets everything out of what the steep terraced vineyard has to offer.

The Fürst winery in Bürgstadt am Main is considered a benchmark for German Pinot Noir. For decades, the family has cultivated vineyards on the Mittelburg hill along the Main River, consistently maintaining low yields and possessing a keen understanding of Burgundy typicity that is unparalleled in Germany. The Schlossberg vineyard is extremely steep, the slopes retain heat, and the vines are under stress—the result is a wine with depth and character.

In the glass, the GG displays a dark cherry color with ruby-red highlights. The nose is dominated by red sour cherry, complemented by violets and a delicate hint of herbs. The palate is silky and fiery: ripe tannins, the warmth of the terroir is palpable, yet always balanced with the freshness typical of Franconia. The finish is long and spicy.

Serving temperature: 16–18 °C. Drinking window: 2025–2033. Pairs well with wild boar loin, duck breast with cherry sauce or aged goat cheese.
