Red Camargue rice

Red Camargue rice grows in the Rhône delta in the south of France – one of the few rice-growing regions in Europe. The characteristic reddish-brown hue comes from the clay-rich, mineral soil of the Camargue, which also gives the grain its nutty, slightly earthy character.

Viani sources this natural rice unpeeled, so the red bran layer is preserved. This results in a firm texture after about 40 minutes of cooking time plus 10 minutes of simmering – and a higher fiber content than polished rice.

Nutty and spicy on the palate, slightly sweet, with a pleasantly firm bite. As a warm side dish for grilled sea bass or sea bream, in salads with fennel and orange vinaigrette, or in casseroles with vegetables. Pairs well with a dry Rosé from Provence.
