Rosso di Montalcino Argiano

Rosso di Montalcino Argiano
Argiano's Rosso di Montalcino is the accessible entry point into Brunello country — structured enough for the cellar, open enough for tonight.
Argiano is one of Montalcino's historic estates: The castle above Sant'Angelo in Colle was built in the 16th century, and the winemaking tradition stretches back centuries. The Sangiovese vines grow on soils characterized by galestro and alberese – the typical slate-limestone mixture that gives the area's wines their vibrancy and minerality.
In the glass, it shines a deep, dark ruby red with garnet highlights. The nose offers ripe sour cherry, black plum, and a hint of dried herbs—rosemary and thyme. On the palate, firm but not harsh tannins, lively acidity, and a note of dark chocolate on the finish that neatly concludes the fruitiness.
Serving temperature: 16–18 °C. Drinking window: now until 2027. Pairs well with Bistecca alla Fiorentina , braised lamb shoulder with olives, or aged Pecorino Toscano.
