Quinta de Sao Francisco Tinto Obidos DOC 1.5L Magnum

Quinta de Sao Francisco Tinto Obidos DOC 1.5L Magnum
A red wine from the DOC Óbidos — one of the up-and-coming regions of western Portugal, about 80 km north of Lisbon, where Atlantic breezes cool the vines and ensure lively acidity. Two gold medals (Mundus Vini for the 2017 vintage, Berliner Wein Trophy 2025 for the 2020 vintage) demonstrate that the quality here is consistently impressive across vintages.
Behind the wine is the Companhia Agrícola do Sanguinhal , a traditional family estate that has cultivated the land around Óbidos for generations. The Quinta de São Francisco winery is part of this estate complex and stands for expertly crafted wines made from regionally typical grape varieties.
In the glass, the Tinto displays aromas of cherry and raspberry , complemented by spicy and mineral notes. Depending on the vintage, darker fruit tones—blackberry, dark plum—as well as subtle oak nuances also come to the fore. The body is medium to full-bodied, the acidity well-integrated, the tannins soft enough for early drinking, yet with sufficient structure for the 1.5-liter magnum bottle , which offers additional aging potential.
- Dishes: Grilled lamb with herbs, entrecôte, spicy pasta with tomato and meat sauce or mature Manchego cheese
- Temperature: 16–18 °C
- Occasion: A dinner party with several guests — the Magnum size is just what you need then

Companhia Agrícola do Sanguinhal
Since 1926, Companhia Agrícola do Sanguinhal has been making wines that tell the story of their home – the Óbidos region in the heart of Portugal, nestled between Atlantic breezes and ancient vines. Three quintas, three distinct characters: Quinta do Sanguinhal, Quinta das Cerejeiras, and Quinta de São Francisco. Each estate brings its own unique expression – and together they create a portrait of Portugal that you can taste in the glass: fresh, vibrant, and profound. What sets this family winery apart? The balance between respecting traditional craftsmanship and the courage to evolve. Sustainable vineyard management is an integral part of their approach – not as a marketing promise, but as a philosophy that has been practiced for generations. The DOC wines from Óbidos are still a true hidden gem – exactly what we at Vinoscout love.
