Purple Air Comes from the East

A Cabernet Sauvignon from China that appears with depth and freshness at the same time. The name Purple Air Comes from the East plays on an old Chinese proverb and fits a wine that connects East and West.

It comes from Château Changyu Moser XV, a joint project of the Chinese wine house Changyu and the Austrian winemaker Lenz Moser. The winery is located in Ningxia, a region at the foot of the Helan Mountains known for its Cabernet wines. The château was built on the model of European wineries.

In the glass, the bouquet opens with floral notes, followed by red and dark berries. Fine hints of cedar wood, tobacco, and subtle vanilla are added. On the palate, fresh acidity carries the concentrated fruit; despite its density, the wine appears lively and clearly defined.

Recommendation: Serve it at 16 to 18 °C. It goes with braised beef cheek, duck breast with cherry jus, grilled lamb, or hearty hard cheese.

The Château

Château Changyu Moser XV

Château Changyu Moser XV stands for wine from China, specifically for a style of viticulture that sounds different from what you might expect. Our focus is on Cabernet Sauvignon, a grape variety you are otherwise more likely to know from Bordeaux or California.

The wines show how versatile this grape can be: dark berry fruit, a spicy note, and a structure that invites you to pair it with food. They go perfectly with a pot roast or a strong hard cheese.

You can currently find five wines from this estate in our shop. Try them out if you feel like discovering something new and compare the style with what you already know from Cabernet.
