Paulinshofberg Riesling GG

The Paulinshofberg lies upstream from the Brauneberg – a historic site that had been forgotten for decades and was reclassified by the VDP as a Große Lage in 2019. Since then, it has been showing what it can do.

Fritz Haag manages the steep slopes facing south-south-east, whose soil differs from the neighboring Juffer: in addition to weathered blue and gray Devonian slate, there is loamy clay slate here – this gives the wine a different texture, more body, an earthy depth.

In the glass, light, clear fruit appears: stone fruit, a hint of citrus peel, dark berries in the background. The nose opens with flint and fresh herbs; on the palate, floral notes follow and a spicy-earthy minerality that carries the wine. The finish is long, with delicate saltiness and an elegance that knows no rush.
